paper prototype by John PelleJohn Pelle, 07 May 2009 14:42

http://smashmouthgames.com/gamesongakupage.html
play it on http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/387592

This game is called Ongaku by Smashmouth Games

the use of art is purely aesthetic but the effectiveness of the player's ability will add more beauty to the paintings in the background. The game is simple in design and understanding but can provide a feeling of accomplishment.

Flower by ThatGameCompany is unplayable on the pc, but I would like to mention this as one of the downloadable console titles I had the privilege to play. The artistic view is in the game itself and the more interaction between more flowers creates newer situations of beauty in this rich environment.

For starters, you can look up Natalie Bookchin, Chris Josephs, and Donna Lieshman …

Latin Man Dialogue

A COP WAS SHOT, DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT?

RESPONSE: NO
Then the player chooses from : "Are you sure? or You're hiding something!" and follows its path.

Are you sure?
Yes Señior, I heard it on the news, but I don't know anything.
You arrest him for questioning.

You're hiding something!
No Señior, I'm not hiding anything. Please just leave me alone.
You beat him up for information.

Hey guys:

I haven't seen any activity on the discussion board, just wanted to know where everyone is at.

I have the dialogue complete for my character: the white, valley girl (we changed the gender from male to female). The dialogue could work for a preppy white guy if you want to change the gender back to male. Interesting.

Moving on, I can make a card with the back story of the game: your a cop and you're looking for justice for the murder of your partner, etc. I can also make the "dialogue-action box" - the box where we put the two characters and have the dialogue options at the bottom. The paper that has "A cop was shot, do you know anything about it?"

Right, so let me know what's going on.

Alright, The prototype is due Monday and we should see where everyone is at, aslso im going to post a few suggestions as well…

First thing, James forget about drawing the board game instead we changed the game up a bit which the professor liked so we stuck with it, instead of drawing the board spaces, just draw a small neighborhood area, since all we have to do is make 1 level dont need to draw a city unless you want to, id say about 1 or 2 papers long, street, road, sidewalk, buildings whatever you want, we've moved to real time instead of the dice turn based, so we'll have the player move him where they want

Next up is the dialogues the cop will have, I want to suggest that whoever is doing the white person make it as positive as possible even the negative answers sounds sort of positive, make it so the cop believes the white guy is innocent. For the Latin, Black, Brown and Asian make it both posses negative outcomes with say the positive being arrested, negative being beaten, shot, whatever. We want to show Racial profiling/discrimination so it'll be a way to make certain its shown, unless someone else has another suggestion. Again the options first will be what the player chooses the cop to say and inside/behind would show you the action (written action and response depending on what the action is)

Also for the dialogues ive been thinking one person would gather every dialogue made and put them on paper just so every paper looks the same and not different sizes. If someone is able to do that let us know we'll send you the completed dialogues you just need to rewrite them so their on paper thats exactly sized like the others.

Also if anyone has any sites that have small drawings of a cop or so let me know, ill print those and cut them out to put on the board.

Any suggestions be sure to message or post on discussion board for a quicker response maybe.

Also everyone respond or post what you currently doing or where you are at so we know whats going on.

I came up with a new pattern I think we could act out.

A guy is looking at porn on the Internet while at work. He always feels like somebody is watching him, even though they might not be and keeps looking over his shoulder. Somebody walks by and he panics. He tries to close the window but the screen is frozen. He keeps hitting CTRL + ALT + DELETE, but nothing happens. He goes looking for the plug and yanks it from the outlet. The computer restarts and he goes back to working.

Great job, Carlos! Good game for the analysis paper, too, since you must know it pretty well by now.
